Sony LIV Joins Prime Video as Add-On at Rs 399 a Month

Prime Video India now offers Sony LIV as an add-on at Rs 399 per month or Rs 1,499 per year, with 450+ movies, 300+ shows and live sports in one app.

Sony LIV is now a Prime Video add-on from Rs 399 a month

Prime Video India has turned its app into an even bigger entertainment hub. From October 21, Sony LIV is available as an add-on subscription, so Prime Video customers can watch Sony LIV’s films, originals, television shows and live sport without leaving the app.

The new add-on is priced at Rs 399 per month and Rs 1,499 per year. It works on mobiles, web browsers, Fire TV, smart TVs and other compatible living-room devices. It is the latest sign that Indian streaming is moving towards larger apps that bundle services, rather than asking viewers to manage a stack of separate subscriptions.

What the Sony LIV add-on includes

Sony LIV brings a catalogue of more than 450 movies and 300 shows to Prime Video, along with live sports and programming in nine languages: Hindi, English, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Gujarati.

The library ranges from original series such as the Scam franchise and Gullak to the film Sitaare Zameen Par, plus popular television programmes from Sony Entertainment Television and Sony SAB.

  • Reality and TV: Kaun Banega Crorepati Season 18, Indian Idol Season 17, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Pushpa Impossible and Family Full House With Rohit Sharma.
  • Live sport: bilateral India cricket, the UEFA Champions League, the French Open, the Commonwealth Games and UFC.
  • Coming up: India’s tour of New Zealand begins October 22 with Tests, ODIs and T20Is.

Why the partnership matters

Prime Video already lets viewers browse and pay for third-party streaming services in one place. Add-on subscriptions include consolidated billing, a shared watchlist, offline downloads and personalised recommendations. Sony LIV extends that model into daily television and a near-continuous sports calendar, giving Prime Video another reason to be opened every day.

Gaurav Bhasin, Head of AVOD Business and Marketplace at Prime Video India, said the goal is to make Prime Video “the ultimate entertainment destination” and called the Sony LIV addition “a significant step” in that journey. Rajesh Kaul, Chief Revenue Officer and Business Head, Sports and International at Sony Pictures Networks India, described the tie-up as a way to meet viewers wherever they choose to watch and to expand Sony LIV’s reach.

For Sony LIV, the distribution upside is clear: being inside Prime Video puts its originals and live sport in front of viewers who may never have installed the standalone app.

What to check before you switch

Though add-ons are managed through Prime Video, individual content catalogues and subscription terms may vary by provider. If you already pay for Sony LIV directly, or if a particular show or match is essential, check what the add-on includes before changing plans.

For most fans, the appeal is straightforward: more films, more television and live cricket inside an app many households already use.
