Sara and Ayushmann mark Dussehra before Udta Teer

Sara Ali Khan shared a Golden Temple photo with co-star Ayushmann Khurrana, three days before their spy-comedy Udta Teer opens amid a Nepal screening block.

Sara and Ayushmann mark Dussehra before Udta Teer release

Dussehra came with a soft launch for Udta Teer. Sara Ali Khan marked the festival by sharing a photograph with co-star Ayushmann Khurrana from the Golden Temple in Punjab, pairing the greeting with a nudge toward their film’s October 23 release.

In the post, she wrote,

“Happy Dussehra 🙏💕 Wishing everyone love, luck and laughter 🤗”

The image shows the pair outside the Golden Temple, using the festive moment to keep the film visible in a crowded release week.

The spy who forgets which side he is on

Directed by Akash A. Kaushik, Udta Teer is a spy-comedy that mixes action with humour. Ayushmann Khurrana plays Bilal Ahmed, a Pakistani spy sent to India. After an accident and explosion, he loses his memory and starts believing he is an Indian counter-terrorism officer. Sara Ali Khan plays Yamini, the female lead.

That identity mix-up is the film’s engine: a spy navigating his mission while unaware of who he really is. It is a twist the Hindi film audience knows well, but the casting pushes it into comedy rather than straight espionage.

A wide ensemble and a late actor’s farewell

The cast includes Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Gulshan Grover, Suhail Nayyar, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala and Supriya Pilgaonkar. The film also features the late Mukul Dev in one of his final screen appearances.

Udta Teer is produced by Karan Johar, Adar Poonawalla, Apoorva Mehta, Guneet Monga Kapoor and Achin Jain under Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment.

Nepal says no, days before release

Around October 19-20, Nepal reportedly denied permission for a public screening of the film, citing provisions about content that could affect relations with friendly nations or national interests. The India-Pakistan spy premise has been widely linked to that decision, though the Nepal release remains blocked.

For Indian viewers, the film is still set to arrive in cinemas on October 23, 2026. The Dussehra post is a reminder that the team is keeping the campaign moving despite the last-minute international hurdle.

Udta Teer at a glance

  • Release: October 23, 2026, in cinemas
  • Director: Akash A. Kaushik
  • Leads: Ayushmann Khurrana as Bilal Ahmed; Sara Ali Khan as Yamini
  • Producers: Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment
  • Status: Nepal public screening reportedly blocked; India release on track

If you like spy comedies that lean on memory and mistaken identity, this is one to book for the festive weekend. The Nepal decision may also raise curiosity, but the real test will be how the film opens at the box office.
