The team behind Rangasthalam is back. Ram Charan and director Sukumar begin their new pan-India film, tentatively called RC17, with a pooja ceremony today, November 1, at 10:50 am.
What is confirmed so far
The project is bankrolled by Mythri Movie Makers, Sukumar Writings and T-Series Films. It was first announced in March 2024, when the production house framed it as a reunion of the forces behind some of Telugu cinema’s biggest successes. The makers have not yet revealed the film’s official title, cast, technical crew or release date.
That makes this the second direct feature pairing of Ram Charan and Sukumar. Their previous outing, Rangasthalam (2018), was a rural drama that earned strong reviews and became a major commercial success. Ram Charan played Chitti Babu, a partially hearing-impaired man pulled into village politics while guarding his brother. Samantha Ruth Prabhu, Aadhi Pinisetty and Jagapathi Babu were also part of the film.
Why the reunion carries weight
RC17 arrives with built-in goodwill because Rangasthalam remains a reference point for both men. Since then, the director has expanded the Pushpa universe with Pushpa 2: The Rule, led by Allu Arjun, while Ram Charan was most recently seen in Peddi, Buchi Babu Sana’s sports action drama. That film also features Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Divyenndu and Jagapathi Babu, with music by AR Rahman.
For Hindi cinema followers, this is not a distant southern item. Sukumar’s Pushpa films have shown how Telugu-origin stories can become national events, and T-Series Films’ presence gives the new title a direct line into Hindi music and distribution networks.
What to watch next
With the formal start happening today, the next signals usually come in this order for a big pan-India launch:
- A title or first-look reveal, now that the pooja marks the formal start.
- Cast announcements, since the full cast and technical crew are still unannounced.
- A genre signal, since Rangasthalam was a rooted rural drama and Pushpa was stylised action.
Until the makers open the film up, the only official facts are the pooja timing and the producing partners. The title, cast and release plan remain under wraps, so treat early casting chatter as unconfirmed.
