Prime Video sets the premiere
Prime Video announced on 9 October that its upcoming Hindi crime-drama Chaar Yaar will begin streaming on 23 October. The date was shared on Friday.
The series lands as another original title in the streamer’s Hindi slate, built around a young ensemble and a period setting that should feel both familiar and lived-in.
The world and the story
Set in early-2000s Mumbai, the series follows four friends—Jay, Tony, Saahil and Sameer—as they deal with middle-class life, family obligations and dreams of a better future.
What starts as an attempt to change their circumstances turns into something far more dangerous. As the official synopsis puts it, their friendship becomes “their only armor.”
- Premiere: 23 October on Prime Video
- Director: Vinay Waikul
- Writers: Sambit Mishra and Saurabh Sawant

- Pivotal roles: Sai Tamhankar, Sikander Kher, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Rajesh Tailang, Chunky Panday, Bhagavathi Perumal
Why it is worth a watchlist spot
The combination of a young lead cast and seasoned supporting actors gives the show a blend of fresh energy and experience. Bollywood fans will recognise Chunky Panday and Rajesh Tailang among the supporting players, while Sikander Kher and Sai Tamhankar bring the kind of experience that often anchors a multi-character thriller.
Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios India, said the platform has backed new talent and praised the lead cast as “an absolute treat to watch.” The early-2000s Mumbai backdrop adds period texture, while the friendship-turn-danger premise gives the crime-drama a clear emotional hook.

For viewers, the next step is simple: add Chaar Yaar to the Prime Video watchlist and keep 23 October free. With the release date now out, expect more promotional material as the premiere approaches.
