9 Months Without a Film: Mrunal Thakur Promises Official Updates

Mrunal Thakur refuses to confirm or deny Raaka casting reports, says her next film announcement will come from her social media, not the rumour mill.

9 Months Without Signing, Mrunal Thakur Promises Her Own Film Updates

Mrunal Thakur is letting the rumour mill run while keeping the facts in her own hands. Asked about Raaka, the Atlee-directed sci-fi that pairs Allu Arjun and Deepika Padukone, she neither confirmed nor denied being part of the cast.

The Raaka question, answered with a laugh

Bollywood Hungama reports that the actor laughed off the direct question and said,

“I like how you assume that I am doing Raaka.”

She followed up by saying the announcement of her upcoming films would be made on social media soon, so that speculation can be put to rest.

That is not a new posture. In an earlier interview with Mid-Day, she said she has not signed a film in almost nine months and is waiting for a meaningful role. Any announcement, she explained, would come from her social media handle before she speaks about it.

Why Raaka speculation keeps growing

It is easy to see why the film attracts chatter. The project is a major pan-India title, and the disclosed details are strong:

  • It marks the first collaboration between Allu Arjun and director Atlee, and is planned as a sci-fi.
  • Deepika Padukone is part of the lead cast.
  • The release is scheduled for 2027.
  • It has already achieved a Guinness World Record for real-time motion capture, with 37 performers involved at the same time.

That scale means every casting report gets amplified before the makers, or the actor, say anything.

What fans should do with casting whispers

For the audience, the practical rule is straightforward. Mrunal Thakur has said the confirming word will come from her official social accounts. Until that post appears, Raaka links to her and other projects remain unconfirmed.

She also gave a small window into how she thinks about roles. Describing her approach as wanting to enjoy the process, she compared an experiment to its steps—aim, apparatus, observation and conclusion—and said she prefers to live and learn rather than declare that something did not work.

So the wait continues, but at least fans know where to watch.
