Koffee With Karan 9 has opened its new season with a clear answer from Salman Khan: there will be no biopic on his life. The star was the first guest on Karan Johar’s returning chat show, and Karisma Kapoor joined him midway through the episode.
During a rapid-fire round, Karisma asked Salman to choose a director for a film based on his journey. The names on the table were Sooraj Barjatya, Kabir Khan, David Dhawan and Sanjay Leela Bhansali.
Salman did not pick just one. Instead, he said the right director would depend on the kind of story being told. Then he closed the subject with a definitive line.
“But a biopic of my life will never be made. My life will go to my grave,” he said.
The comment ends the recurring question of whether the actor’s story could become a film.
Four directors, four genres
Before closing the door on a biopic, Salman did imagine how different filmmakers would treat different parts of his life.
- Comedy: David Dhawan
- Traditional tragic love story: Sanjay Leela Bhansali
- Love story after love story: Sooraj Barjatya
- Action-flavoured love story drawn from his experiences: Kabir Khan
Those answers were hypothetical. The larger message was that the story is not for sale.
No retirement talk
Karisma also brought up the idea of a possible last film and asked about a co-star. Salman brushed it aside quickly.
“Last film not happening yet, bro. Not yet,” he said. Karisma agreed, saying there is a long time to go.
Why it matters
Biopics are a growing format in Hindi cinema, and Koffee With Karan has a long record of turning playful rapid-fire questions into talking points. This episode delivered one early: no biopic, and no final film on the horizon.
The exchange also showed Salman willing to play along with a hypothetical even while setting a hard boundary. For fans, it was a crisp season opener that mixed the show’s familiar energy with a firm line around his own story.
