A Halloween reveal, straight from HorrorCon
Kangana Ranaut is returning to horror. At HorrorCon India 2026 in New Delhi on October 31, actor-producer Rana Daggubati unveiled Scary Picture, a Bollywood horror feature, and said the title was being shared with the convention crowd before anywhere else.
Kangana reposted a clip from the event on her Instagram Stories showing Daggubati revealing the logo in English and Hindi. The venue choice matters: the project was handed to horror fans at a convention first, rather than introduced through a trade announcement, which positions Scary Picture around its genre audience from the opening reveal.
“It’s by a director called Ravi Babu, who is a friend of mine. He’s made multiple horror films in Telugu. And this is his first Hindi feature,” Daggubati said.
Ravi Babu steps into Hindi cinema
Ravi Babu is the son of late actor Chalapathi Rao. He made his acting debut with Maavidaakulu in 1998 and has been seen in Tholi Prema, Jayam Manadera, Swagatam and Rush. He turned director with Allari in 2002, which he also produced, and runs the production house Flying Frogs.
With Scary Picture, he gets a Hindi feature at a time when Bollywood is again testing horror with star-led titles. His Telugu horror experience gives the project a director who knows the genre’s grammar.
Why the horror return matters
For Kangana, Scary Picture becomes her third major horror outing after Raaz: The Mystery Continues in 2009 and the Tamil horror comedy Chandramukhi 2 in 2023. She continues to balance film work with her role as the Bharatiya Janata Party Member of Parliament from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh.
- Film: Scary Picture, a Bollywood horror feature.
- Producer: Rana Daggubati, who announced it on Halloween.
- Director: Ravi Babu, making his Hindi debut.
- Lead: Kangana Ranaut, returning to the genre.
What Kangana has coming up
Earlier this year, Kangana starred in and produced Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, based on the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks. It received a muted response and is now streaming on Zee5. She has the bilingual Circle and Vikas Bahl’s Queen 2 lined up for the new year. Her Hollywood debut, Blessed Be The Evil, also carries a horror connection and is directed by Anurag Rudra, with Tyler Posey and Scarlet Rose Stallone.
No shooting schedule or release date for Scary Picture has been announced yet, so fans should watch official channels for casting and production updates.
