Kangana Ranaut’s Scary Picture: Her third horror film

Rana Daggubati unveiled Scary Picture at HorrorCon 2026; Ravi Babu will make his Hindi debut and Kangana Ranaut confirmed the project.

Kangana returns to horror with Scary Picture

Kangana Ranaut is heading back to horror. At HorrorCon India 2026 in New Delhi on October 31, actor-producer Rana Daggubati revealed Scary Picture as a Halloween surprise, with Kangana attached to the project. Telugu director-actor Ravi Babu will make his Hindi directorial debut with the film.

A title kept for the convention

Daggubati showed the film’s logo in English and Hindi and said the title was being announced at the convention before any Hindi-language press had been told. The project is being positioned as a Bollywood film, not a South Indian title. “The title is announced here first,” Rana told the crowd.

Kangana shared the announcement moment on Instagram Stories. So far, the supporting cast, plot, release date and an official statement from Daggubati’s production house have not been disclosed.

Who is Ravi Babu?

The filmmaker is the son of late actor Chalapathi Rao and runs the production house Flying Frogs. He started in front of the camera with Maavidaakulu in 1998, then turned director with Allari in 2002.

  • Acting credits include Tholi Prema, Jayam Manadera, Swagatam and Rush.
  • Made the piglet-led Adhugo in 2023 and Razor this year.
  • Known for unconventional films that stand out even when they do not always succeed commercially.

Ravi Babu rarely works with big mainstream stars, so his pairing with Kangana gives Scary Picture an unusual edge.

Kangana’s horror record

Scary Picture becomes the third major horror film of Kangana’s career after Raaz: The Mystery Continues (2009) and the Tamil horror comedy Chandramukhi 2 (2023). Her Hollywood debut, Blessed Be the Evil, also has a horror connection, though her last Hindi horror film remains Raaz.

What comes next

Kangana is balancing film work with her duties as BJP Member of Parliament from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh. Earlier this year, Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata earned about Rs 8 crore worldwide and is now streaming on Zee5; Circle and Queen 2 are lined up for the new year.

For genre fans, the next updates to watch are the supporting cast, a shoot schedule and a release window. A Hindi debut by an offbeat Telugu horror director and a leading actor returning to the genre is a fresh combination.
