Jailer 2, Ramayana and King Set India’s Year-End Slate

Rajinikanth, Ranbir Kapoor and Shah Rukh Khan headline three big theatrical dates: October 15, November 5 and December 24.

A Star-Packed Final Quarter for Indian Cinema

The final quarter of 2026 is turning into a festival lineup for Indian film fans. Three star-driven titles are placed across October, November and December, each built as a big-screen event. Jailer 2 arrives first on October 15, Ramayana: Part One is expected on November 5, and King is scheduled for December 24.

Three films, three promises

These are not interchangeable blockbusters. Jailer 2 is a franchise sequel, Ramayana is a mythological epic, and King is a holiday action spectacle. Together they give the quarter a clear arc.

  • October 15 – Jailer 2: Rajinikanth returns as Muthuvel Pandian, better known as Tiger, under director Nelson Dilipkumar. The ensemble includes Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar, Vidya Balan, Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff, S. J. Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Ramya Krishnan.
  • November 5 – Ramayana: Part One (expected): Ranbir Kapoor leads as Lord Rama, with Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The production is chasing a grand scale and international reach.
  • December 24 – King: Shah Rukh Khan headlines a large-scale action film directed by Siddharth Anand, timed for the Christmas holiday window.

Why the calendar matters

The run matters because it places three major theatrical bets inside roughly ten weeks. Jailer 2 brings established franchise appeal and a multi-industry cast, which is why it is positioned as one of the season’s major pan-Indian releases. Ramayana, meanwhile, is among the most ambitious projects in the pipeline, combining cultural weight with heavy visual effects. King has been drawing attention since its announcement, with fans following Shah Rukh Khan’s look and the film’s action sound.

For audiences, this is a rare chance to plan a clear calendar. For the exhibition sector, it is a chance to finish 2026 with consecutive event films rather than one isolated hit. A strong December could leave the Indian box office with real momentum heading into 2027.

What to keep an eye on

The October and December slots are stated as release dates, while Ramayana is still described as expected. Any shift there would reshape the quarter. For now, though, the building blocks are set: action first, mythology in the middle, and a Shah Rukh Khan spectacle at the close. Fans can begin marking the dates and watching how each campaign builds.
