Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2 is set to make the most of the Dussehra holiday. After a Rs 3.35 crore first Monday for the Hindi version, trade reports project a Rs 3.5–4 crore sixth day, which would lift the five-day Hindi cume from Rs 20 crore to about Rs 25 crore.
The sequel angle is part of why this matters. Jailer 2 arrives after the 2023 original became a major event, so the Hindi-dubbed version is not starting as an unknown property. A sequel brings a ready audience, but it also has to match the goodwill of the first film — and the early numbers suggest the Hindi market is willing to show up, even on a Monday.
Dussehra gives the Hindi version a mid-week push
According to a Sacnilk report quoted in the trade update, the Hindi version recorded a 41% dip on day five but still held at Rs 3.35 crore. Early day-six footfalls were stronger: morning occupancy stood at 21.58%, and by 12 pm the film had collected Rs 73 lakh from the Hindi version and Rs 10.69 crore across India.
The Nelson Dilipkumar-directed sequel features an ensemble that includes Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, S. J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty and Vidya Balan. It has released in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Malayalam and has crossed Rs 200 crore in India across all languages.
Why the Hindi hold matters
The Hindi version’s journey is being tracked closely because it is taking place without access to PVR, INOX and Cinepolis multiplex chains in the north, according to the report. Even so, the film’s all-India total reportedly stands at Rs 242.25 crore after five days, with worldwide collections reported at Rs 477.75 crore.
For Hindi-cinema fans, that is a useful signal: a big southern tentpole is competing for the same weekday audience even with constraints in exhibition. For the trade, the day-six holiday number is about momentum, not just a single day.
- Day 5 Hindi: Rs 3.35 crore; five-day Hindi total: Rs 20 crore.
- All-India total after day 5: Rs 242.25 crore.
- Worldwide reported total: Rs 477.75 crore.
- Day 6 projection: Rs 3.5–4 crore Hindi, taking the cume near Rs 25 crore.
- Day 6 till noon: Rs 73 lakh Hindi; Rs 10.69 crore overall.
The first-week target
With Dussehra falling on day six, the first Tuesday is positioned as a bridge between the opening weekend and the post-holiday weekdays. The real test for the Hindi version will be whether it can retain a similar level once the holiday bump passes. Trade watchers are looking at whether the Hindi version can finish week one around Rs 30 crore and whether the all-India number can approach Rs 275 crore in the same frame.
For fans, the practical takeaway is simple: if you plan to catch the film in cinemas this week, the holiday shows are likely to be busy. If the mid-week number lands at the upper end of the projection, Jailer 2 will enter the post-holiday stretch with a stronger cushion.
