Aaj Ka Mahishasur first look out; Terence Lewis debuts

The Navratri launch pairs the first look of Dhiraj Kumarr's Aaj Ka Mahishasur with the devotional song Jagdambe Rani, starring Terence Lewis in his film debut.

Aaj Ka Mahishasur releases first look and Jagdambe Rani

Aaj Ka Mahishasur chose Navratri to open its campaign, pairing its first look with the devotional track Jagdambe Rani. Directed by Dhiraj Kumarr and produced by Gaurang Bhaskar, the film marks Terence Lewis’s first film role and co-stars Padmini Kolhapure, Chandan Roy and Ayeesha Aiman.

For fans, that makes the reveal a two-in-one update: a poster to take in and a song to put on repeat.

A temple start for the first look

The team visited Mumbai’s Mumba Devi Temple to seek blessings and present the film’s poster at the temple. The timing is tied to the festival: Navratri celebrates Goddess Durga’s victory over Mahishasur, and the makers use that mythology as the film’s starting point.

The visit also made the blessing-seeking part of the announcement itself, rooting the film’s reveal in the same moment its title references.

A Mahishasur story for today

The title does not treat Mahishasur as simple festival lore. It reframes the symbol to explore the wrongs that continue around us—and the ones people often refuse to see within themselves.

Lewis said the subject and the questions it raises about society drew him to the project. He described the story as thought-provoking and said it pushes past the traditional reading of Mahishasur. “There are evils around us, but there are also those within us that we often choose to ignore,” he said.

Jagdambe Rani: the voices and credits

  • Song: Jagdambe Rani
  • Composers: Amol and Abhishek
  • Lyrics: Abhishek Talented
  • Singers: Dev Negi, Divya Kumar, Amol Shrivastava and Abhishek Talented

A devotional song at Navratri gives the film a clear festival hook, and the first look arrives with it rather than waiting for a separate reveal. The move also places the title’s mythological reference in front of audiences when they are already thinking about the Durga-Mahishasur story.

Why the debut matters

For Terence Lewis, the film adds another chapter to his career in the entertainment industry. Sharing screen space with Padmini Kolhapure, Chandan Roy and Ayeesha Aiman frames the debut as part of an ensemble, while the theme gives it weight beyond a standard introduction.

What fans can do now

The makers have not attached a release date to this first look, so the immediate next step for fans is simple: stream Jagdambe Rani and spend a moment with the poster. The Navratri launch positions Aaj Ka Mahishasur as a film that wants to join a larger conversation, not simply announce its presence.
