Yash Calls Himself Radhikapati at Ramayana Trailer Launch

Yash turned the international trailer launch of Ramayana: Part One into a family moment. At the Bengaluru event, he credited his wife Radhika Pandit for the support behind his leap into Ravana and gave the epic a personal wordplay: “Radhikapati”.

From Rocky to Ravana

The actor has built a pan-India following through roles such as Rocky in the KGF franchise and Raja Huli. Before he spoke about the film, he listed those screen names and then located Radhika in the audience. “And our Sita is right here, Radhika! Be it Ravana, be it Raya, be it Rocky, be it Raja Huli… whatever it is, when coming home…” he said.

He followed with a gentle joke on naming. “Nowadays we put our surnames on women, but in that era it was the reverse, Sitapati! Isn’t it? Just like that, we are Radhikapati!”

Radhika Pandit’s presence was not a red-carpet aside. Yash made her part of the film’s story by comparing her to Sita while he takes on Ravana. That inversion is a neat framing: the epic’s antagonist goes home to his Sita.

Why the support system matters

Yash then made the point behind the joke. The roles, he argued, are experiments and “crazy ideas” that need strength at home. As he put it, “Wherever you go, I think if you don’t have that strength at home, if you don’t have that support… because of our crazy ideas, the experiments we do… now, after all this, I’m going and playing Ravana!”

That matters because Ravana is not just another antagonist. It is a morally complex, culturally loaded character and a departure from the action-hero mould that made Yash famous. For Hindi film fans, the moment shows how seriously he is treating the part.
