Kartik Aaryan-Sreeleela musical locks April 30, 2027 release

Anurag Basu's romantic musical with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela has locked an April 30, 2027 release, giving it a clear window before May's big titles.

Kartik-Sreeleela musical gets April 30, 2027 release date

A new pairing, a fixed date

Anurag Basu’s romantic musical starring Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela has locked a theatrical release for April 30, 2027. The announcement gives the yet-untitled film a firm slot in the 2027 calendar and marks the first time Kartik and Sreeleela share the screen.

For Sreeleela, the project carries an extra milestone: it is her Bollywood debut in a lead role. She has built her career in Telugu and Kannada cinema, and many Hindi-speaking viewers first took notice after her appearance in the song ‘Kissik’ from Pushpa 2.

What the film is—and isn’t

Billed as an original love story, the film places music at the center of its storytelling. The reported title is Tu Meri Zindagi Hai, though the makers have not confirmed an official title yet.

Early promotional glimpses show Kartik in a rugged singer-rockstar avatar, performing with a guitar, alongside flashes of his pairing with Sreeleela. Director Anurag Basu and composer Pritam reunite on a project that is not part of the Aashiqui franchise, despite earlier speculation linking Kartik to that series.

  • Director: Anurag Basu
  • Music: Pritam
  • Leads: Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela
  • Release: Friday, April 30, 2027
  • Title: Reported as Tu Meri Zindagi Hai; official name awaited

Why April 30 is a smart window

The date has no other major Hindi release currently announced against it. It arrives almost three weeks after S.S. Rajamouli’s Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra Jonas, which is scheduled for April 7, 2027. The next set of major titles—Lag Jaa Gale with Tiger Shroff, Lakshya and Janhvi Kapoor, and the Sourav Ganguly biopic DADA—is currently lined up for May 14, 2027.

That leaves roughly two clear weeks for the Kartik-Sreeleela film to build word of mouth and for its Pritam-led music to travel, which is crucial for a romance where songs are part of the pitch.

The fan view

For Hindi film fans, the combination of Basu’s storytelling, Pritam’s music and a fresh pairing is the draw. Sreeleela’s shift from South Indian stardom to a Hindi debut gives the project a discovery factor, while Kartik’s rockstar styling points toward a return to music-heavy drama.

The April 30 date also keeps the film away from the current logjam of franchise sequels, positioning it as an original romance in a calendar increasingly shaped by established IP.

What to watch next

With the date locked, the next markers will be an official title, a longer teaser or first song, and a deeper look at the film’s rock-music edge. The announcement also shows how 2027’s calendar is being spaced for event films and music-driven love stories.
