Manoj Bajpayee’s next crime thriller has a new name—and now a first full look. The title once announced as Ghooskhor Pandat has become Gajab Raat. The 2-minute-20-second trailer landed on Thursday, setting up the film for its Netflix premiere on October 23.
A corrupt officer’s bad night
Bajpayee plays Nirvit, a police officer whose plan for quick money goes sideways fast. A mysterious call tells him to reach a place called Plaza. When he gets there, he finds an injured young woman who has been thrown from a moving vehicle.
That discovery pulls him into a murder investigation and a larger conspiracy. The trailer keeps the focus on the pressure of a single night, where protecting himself and doing the right thing become two very different choices.
What the trailer sets up
- A corrupt officer, Nirvit, chasing an easy-money opportunity.
- A late-night call to Plaza and a crime scene he did not expect.
- A murder, a bigger conspiracy and a decision that could cost him either way.
The team behind the night
Gajab Raat is directed by Ritesh Shah and co-written by Shah and Neeraj Pandey, with Pandey’s Friday Filmworks banner producing. That puts two familiar collaborators back in the same frame: Bajpayee and Pandey have previously worked together on Special 26 (2013) and Aiyaary (2018). Their track record is why this one feels like more than a routine streaming drop—it suggests a compact, clever thriller where the pressure comes from the clock.
Why the new title matters
The project had drawn controversy earlier this year under its original name. Renaming it to Gajab Raat gives the film a cleaner runway, letting the trailer lead with the story instead of the noise around the title.
The one-night frame is a strong fit for streaming. It promises a contained premise with rising tension, exactly the kind of thriller that tends to hold attention from the first call to the final decision.
What to do before October 23
Watch the trailer as a mood-setter rather than a plot dump. The setup is simple—one officer, one night, one bad decision—but the film appears to pile on twists until the question becomes whether Nirvit can still get out clean. Mark the Netflix date.
