Day-one Hindi advance sales
Jailer 2 has opened advance booking in the Hindi market, and the first day is measured. According to a Sacnilk report cited by Filmibeat, early sales crossed ₹1.59 crore, with more than 83,000 tickets sold. That is a functional start for a franchise with real recall from Jailer (2023), but it sits below the buzz the sequel has been carrying.
One day of advance sales rarely settles a film’s fate. Interest can climb once show counts expand, early reviews arrive, and audiences decide whether to book ahead or buy closer to release. The next few days will show whether this is a slow burn or a sign of limited Hindi-market pull.
What Jailer 2 is offering
Rajinikanth returns as Muthuvel Pandian, the character fans call Tiger, with Nelson Dilipkumar directing again. Familiar names such as Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, Mirnaa and Rithvik are back, while the ensemble has widened with S.J. Suryah, Mithun Chakraborty, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Vidya Balan, Anna Rajan and Jatin Sarna. The film is releasing in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada, pushing the franchise across more markets than before.
- Hindi day one: over ₹1.59 crore from more than 83,000 tickets sold, per Sacnilk via Filmibeat.
- Release languages: Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada.
- Main hook: Hrithik Roshan’s cameo, his first screen union with Rajinikanth since 1986’s Bhagwaan Dada.
The 40-year reunion
The special appearance by Hrithik Roshan is the sequel’s most talked-about addition. He and Rajinikanth last shared screen in Bhagwaan Dada (1986), when Hrithik was a child artist. Four decades later, the reunion is generating online chatter, but it has not yet converted into a rush of Hindi-language advance bookings. If early shows land well, that can change quickly.
Why Rajinikanth made an exception
The star is selective about sequels. He told Sun NXT that he usually avoids follow-ups and had passed on Baasha 2 and Petta 2. What changed his mind was the ending of the first Jailer: Varman’s warning about a powerful network and the three containers worth ₹1000 crore. That, Rajinikanth said, had “potential for a sequel.”
What to watch next
The final push matters more than day one. If the Hrithik Roshan cameo and the first film’s goodwill convert chatter into bookings, the Hindi advance can climb sharply. If it stays flat, the sequel may lean more heavily on post-release word of mouth. Either way, the Hindi performance will show whether the franchise’s pan-India push is expanding its audience or largely leaning on its Tamil core.
