Mohanlal praises Drishyam: The Conclusion as it tops ₹500 crore

Mohanlal gives his blessing to the Hindi franchise's final chapter as Drishyam: The Conclusion crosses the Rs 500 crore worldwide mark.

Mohanlal salutes Drishyam's finale as it crosses ₹500 crore

The third and final Hindi chapter of Drishyam has received a full-circle endorsement from the actor who first brought Vijay Salgaonkar to the screen. Mohanlal, the star of the 2013 Malayalam original, has now watched Drishyam: The Conclusion and told fans he is impressed with how the Hindi team closed the story.

Mohanlal said he was “impressed by the way they have brought this much-loved journey to an end,” and congratulated “Abhishek Pathak, Ajay Devgn and the entire cast and crew.”

The video was shared by the production banner on its official Instagram account, and the timing is no accident. His praise arrives while the film is still running in cinemas, giving the final leg of the theatrical campaign a word from the man who defined Vijay in Malayalam.

Why the Malayalam star’s nod matters

The appreciation is more than a courtesy. Mohanlal originated Vijay Salgaonkar in the Malayalam Drishyam of 2013, which became the template for the Hindi remake. When the original lead signs off on the final adaptation, it works as a cultural handshake between two film industries that share the same story DNA.

The Hindi franchise began in 2015 with Ajay Devgn in the lead, directed by the late Nishikant Kamat. Drishyam 2 followed in 2022 and became one of the year’s highest-grossing Hindi films. Now Abhishek Pathak directs the conclusion, written by Pathak, Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. It is a Panorama Studios production presented by Star Studio18.

The final chapter on screen

Devgn returns as Vijay, the cable operator caught in a long cat-and-mouse game with the police while protecting his family after his daughter becomes involved in a crime. The returning cast includes Tabu, Shriya Saran, Rajat Kapoor, Ishita Dutta and Mrunal Jadhav. Jaideep Ahlawat joins the franchise as Rajveer Singh Tomar, a crime branch officer pursuing the case.

From Rs 300 crore to Rs 500 crore

Drishyam: The Conclusion released in cinemas on October 2 and has kept its box office momentum. The run so far:

  • Crossed Rs 300 crore worldwide within four days of release.
  • Has now crossed the Rs 500 crore worldwide milestone.
  • Mohanlal’s public praise landed while the film was still in theatres.

That last point is the campaign’s late-stage advantage. A franchise finale lives or dies on audience trust, and an endorsement from the original Vijay gives undecided viewers one more reason to catch the film on the big screen.

A rare three-chapter cross-language franchise

It is rare enough for a story to run three Hindi chapters after beginning in Malayalam, and that raises the pressure on the ending to satisfy both sets of fans. Mohanlal’s message to the entire cast and crew—not just the lead—reads as an acknowledgement of that collective effort.
