The film holds in week two
Drishyam 3 added ₹11.73 crore on day 8, taking its India net total to ₹257.23 crore, according to early trade figures. The thriller finished its first week at ₹245.50 crore after opening with ₹66.75 crore — the third biggest first day ever for a Hindi film and the biggest opening of Ajay Devgn’s career so far.
Day two brought ₹53.50 crore and Sunday climbed to ₹61 crore, pushing the film past the ₹200 crore mark inside five days. Before release, advance bookings had raised ₹27 crore — a signal of how sharply the Drishyam franchise has expanded its theatre audience.
A Monday drop was expected, and it came, but the weekday numbers are staying healthy enough to keep records in play.
What the ₹257 crore milestone means
The figure is significant for one simple reason: it puts the third film ahead of the second. Drishyam 2 ended its lifetime run at ₹239.67 crore, and Drishyam 3 crossed that line on day 8. For a franchise built on word of mouth and tight plotting, that growth line is unusually clean.
- ₹66.75 crore opening day — Ajay Devgn’s biggest start
- ₹245.50 crore first week
- ₹257.23 crore total after day 8
- ₹239.67 crore — Drishyam 2’s lifetime, now beaten
- ₹279.59 crore — Tanhaji’s lifetime, the next target
The only Devgn release still ahead is Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior, the 2020 historical that closed at ₹279.59 crore. Drishyam 3 now sits just over ₹22 crore away, and it has already moved past the lifetime totals of Karuppu, Sikandar and Awarapan 2 — a run that turns this second week into a chase for history rather than a simple hold.
The team behind the finale
Abhishek Pathak returns as director, co-writing with Aamil Keeyan Khan and Parveez Shaikh. The film resumes right after Drishyam 2’s closing scenes, with Ajay Devgn’s Vijay Salgaonkar back for what the makers have called one last chapter. Tabu, Prakash Raj, Jaideep Ahlawat and Shriya Saran form the ensemble.
At the trailer launch, Ajay said of Pathak: “The way he’s executed the film, I think he’s done a fabulous job.” He added that he hopes Lal sir and Jeethu sir, the creative forces behind the original franchise, approve of this instalment. Star Studio18 and Panorama Studios back the film, with Alok Jain, Ajit Andhare, Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak producing.
Net collection, the daily number the trade and fans both follow, is what a film earns after entertainment tax is deducted. It is the yardstick on which Hindi box office verdicts are decided, and the measure used in every figure above.
For fans, the math is now simple: Drishyam 3 has already rewritten the franchise record and is heading for the biggest number of Ajay Devgn’s career.
