Nana Patekar, 75, leaves Shakti Shalini as his last film

Nana Patekar's final film will be Maddock's horror comedy Shakti Shalini, director Aditya Sarpotdar confirms after the actor's death at 75.

Nana Patekar, 75, leaves Shakti Shalini as his last film

Nana Patekar, 75, died in Goa on the morning of October 8 after a heart attack. His son Malhar Patekar confirmed the news. Patekar was found unconscious at his Dona Paula home and taken to Manipal Hospital, where doctors declared him dead around 5:20 am. He was cremated at his Pune farmhouse later that day.

For Hindi cinema, the loss closes a screen career that lasted close to 50 years. The films still in the pipeline now become a farewell.

Shakti Shalini is now his final film

Maddock Films’ horror comedy Shakti Shalini, starring Aneet Padda, will be the final release of Patekar’s career. Director Aditya Sarpotdar told PTI from Berlin that he was “deeply saddened” the film would be Patekar’s last work.

Sarpotdar said Patekar had called him about ten days earlier to check on post-production and was looking forward to watching the finished film. The director now describes the project as something larger.

“It is going to be a tribute to one of the best actors of our cinema.”

What fans will see, and when

There is still a short run of posthumous releases. In order:

  • Eetha, with Shraddha Kapoor, is slated for December 2026.
  • The Confession of Mary, directed by Anant Mahadevan, follows.
  • Shakti Shalini, with Aneet Padda, is expected in March 2027.

Why this moment matters

Patekar won three National Awards and remained active for close to 50 years. Tributes came from across cinema and public life, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi. That reach reflects how deeply he connected with audiences beyond the multiplex and beyond Hindi releases alone.

Shakti Shalini also sits inside Maddock’s successful horror-comedy universe. The farewell now carries an extra layer of expectation: it must honour the actor while carrying a franchise forward.

Watch it as a farewell arc

Rather than comparing the three upcoming films, fans can treat them as a closing sequence. Eetha arrives first, The Confession of Mary follows, and Shakti Shalini closes the chapter in March 2027. Each release will now carry an emotional weight it was never designed to hold.
