Manoj Bajpayee's Last Man in Tower premieres on ZEE5 on Nov 6

Manoj Bajpayee, Boman Irani and Divya Dutta are headlining Last Man in Tower, and the drama now has a streaming destination. ZEE5 will premiere the film on November 6, 2026.

A housing society, a big offer, and one refusal

Adapted from Aravind Adiga’s novel of the same name, the film is directed by Ben Rekhi and produced by Rana Daggubati. Set amid Mumbai’s changing urban landscape, it follows Yogesh Mishra, a retired physics teacher living in an ageing housing society.

When the residents accept a lucrative redevelopment proposal, Yogesh alone refuses to give up his flat. His neighbours view the deal as a doorway to a better future. He sees something different: a home holding decades of memory. What begins as a disagreement about property slowly widens into personal isolation, and the man who once belonged to the community finds himself standing outside it.

The team behind the frame

  • Manoj Bajpayee plays Yogesh Mishra, the society’s last holdout.
  • Boman Irani and Divya Dutta share the headline cast.
  • Ben Rekhi directs and Rana Daggubati produces.
  • The story is based on Aravind Adiga’s novel of the same name.

An ambiguity built for streaming

Manoj Bajpayee said the role drew him because the story refuses to hand the audience an easy verdict. “He is a man who stands firmly by his beliefs, yet the story leaves you questioning whether he is right or wrong,” the actor said in a statement carried by Filmfare. He said the part let him explore a character who is stubborn, vulnerable and tied to the home he has loved.

A direct-to-streaming arrival suits a contained drama built on social tension rather than spectacle. There is no interval-friendly set piece here; the friction is emotional, and it rests on how convincingly Yogesh’s refusal is balanced against an entire society’s hopes.

The story also lands at a moment when redevelopment remains one of Mumbai’s most visible fault lines. Older co-operative societies across the city routinely weigh builder offers against the risk of breaking communities. Last Man in Tower gives that negotiation a face in Yogesh Mishra, making the November 6 premiere one for fans of literary adaptations and character-driven Hindi films alike.
