Medha Rana has landed the female lead in Sanki, the action love story directed by Tinu Suresh Desai. She joins Ahan Shetty in the film, which went on floors in Bhopal on 3 November 2026. A first look is expected in the next few days.
The casting
Rana, who was seen in Border 2 (2026) opposite Varun Dhawan, waited after that film to sign her next major project. When Sanki came to her, she treated it as the big one, according to a source quoted by Bollywood Hungama. Over the last two months, she has taken part in intense preparation and workshops to get into the skin of her character.
The part is not a simple romantic track. The source described the role as one “laced with romance, intensity and a big dose of action,” which explains the extended prep. Director Tinu Suresh Desai has built his last few films on high-stakes drama, so the romantic spine of Sanki makes the casting of Rana especially important.
A Border 2 connection that raises the stakes
The casting has a useful link for audiences. In Border 2, Shetty was paired opposite Anya Singh, while Rana was paired opposite Varun Dhawan. Now, for the first time, Shetty and Rana will be paired opposite each other as the lead couple of Sanki.
A source told the publication that the two actors “worked wonders in Border 2 even though they were cast alongside different actors,” and that their new pairing should deliver “fireworks on screen.”
Shetty, notably, is also working with Anya Singh in 1920: Cold Winter, so Sanki marks another reunion from the Border 2 ensemble.
