A steady hold in week two
Udta Teer added ₹2.36 crore on Wednesday, according to Sacnilk data, nudging just above the ₹2.25 crore it collected a day earlier. That takes its India net total to ₹33.26 crore after eight days in theatres.
The film’s best day remains Sunday, when it collected ₹8.20 crore, after an opening day of ₹4.10 crore and a Saturday of ₹7.25 crore. The weekday dip was expected — what stands out is how steady the hold has been.
Holding up amid heavy competition
The spy comedy is doing this alongside Rajinikanth’s Jailer 2, which is pulling a huge share of the audience. It is also staring at a hard deadline: Ranbir Kapoor’s Ramayana arrives for Diwali on November 5, which leaves Udta Teer roughly one more week to bank collections.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh called the likely week-one total of around ₹31 crore “a fair result”, and pointed to the buy-one-get-one ticket offer running on Wednesday as a reason the numbers stayed stable.
Why the hold matters
Mid-budget Bollywood films rarely get a long runway at the box office. When a film holds in week two rather than falling off a cliff, it signals that word-of-mouth is doing some of the heavy lifting. Udta Teer is not putting up blockbuster figures, but it is showing the kind of leg that can turn a modest debut into a respectable final number.
The numbers so far
- Day 1: ₹4.10 crore
- Day 2 (Saturday): ₹7.25 crore
- Day 3 (Sunday): ₹8.20 crore — best single day
- Day 7 (Tuesday): ₹2.25 crore
- Day 8 (Wednesday): ₹2.36 crore
Total so far: ₹33.26 crore (India net).
What Udta Teer is about
The film follows a Pakistani spy, played by Ayushmann Khurrana, who loses his memory after a blast and starts believing he is an Indian Counter-Terrorism Squad officer. That mistaken identity sets off a chain of comic and action-packed events in a cross-border espionage operation.
Sara Ali Khan stars alongside him, with Rahul Bose, Ram Kapoor, Suhail Nayyar, Gulshan Grover, late Mukul Dev, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, Supriya Pilgaonkar and Sandeep Anand in supporting roles. It marks the directorial debut of Akash A Kaushik and is the fourth collaboration between Dharma Productions and Sikhya Entertainment after The Lunchbox, Kill and Gyaarah Gyaarah.
What to watch next
The second weekend is the real test. If Udta Teer holds close to its first-Friday numbers, it could push toward a genuinely healthy final total before Ramayana cuts into its screens. If it dips hard, a fair result turns into a missed opportunity. The next five days will settle it.
