Ahan Shetty is moving straight from the battlefield of Border 2 to a different kind of fight. His next film, the action drama Sanki, starts filming in Bhopal on October 30, with director Tinu Suresh Desai already in the city to finish the final round of prep.
A love story with serious action at its core
Written by Gyanendra Vasudev, Sanki is designed as a mix of romance, intense emotion and high-octane action. The makers are keeping the story and Ahan’s character under wraps for now, but Pooja Hegde is reported to be the leading lady. The film is expected to reach theatres in the first half of 2027, giving the team a clear runway after the Bhopal schedule.
Why this matters for Ahan Shetty
Ahan made his debut with Tadap in 2021, then stepped into Border 2, a franchise his father Suniel Shetty had been part of. He was clear-eyed about the baggage: as Ahan put it, he knew “there were always going to be comparisons.”
That honesty suggests he is thinking about his own path rather than avoiding the shadow. Sanki gives him a chance to show range outside a large ensemble, and with Pooja Hegde as the reported lead, the film also pairs him with a co-star who can carry the lighter side of the romance while the action does the heavy lifting.
What we know so far
- Shoot: Cameras roll in Bhopal on October 30, with the director and crew already in the city.
- Director: Tinu Suresh Desai, known for Rustom and Mission Raniganj.
- Writer: Gyanendra Vasudev.
- Female lead: Pooja Hegde, as per reports.
- Release: Theatrical, in the first half of 2027.
Ahan spoke at the mahurat of his horror film 1920: Cold Winter, which is expected to start shooting in December, and said he is excited to be back in the action zone after Border 2.
Can Desai’s grounded style handle the romance-action mix?
Tinu Suresh Desai has built a reputation on real-life dramas such as Rustom and Mission Raniganj. Sanki blends a love story with hard-hitting action, so the interesting test will be how he keeps the emotion grounded while staging the spectacle.
Because the story and character details are still under wraps, the October 30 start is more signal than spoiler: the project is real, the team is on the ground, and the first Bhopal schedule will set the film’s texture. For fans, the story will take a little longer to unfold.
