SRK’s King holds Dec 24 release with gun-and-rose poster

Shah Rukh Khan's new King poster pairs a gun with a red rose and keeps the theatrical opening on December 24, 2026, with his first feature pairing with Suhana Khan.

SRK's King holds Dec 24 release with gun-and-rose poster

Shah Rukh Khan has given fans a two-in-one update on King: a fiery new poster and a firm release date. The film remains set for December 24, 2026, matching the date listed by Red Chillies Entertainment on its official website.

The poster: danger on one side, romance on the other

The image shows Khan with silver hair, a weathered dark outfit, a gun in hand and a red rose between his teeth as he walks through flames. In his caption, he wrote, “Aaj phir yaad aaya… Qaatil nahi… Aashiq hoon” — “I remembered again… I’m not a killer, I’m a lover.”

That line is a callback to his 1999 film Baadshah, as News9 notes, and it does smart marketing work: the visuals promise an action-heavy turn, while the words reassure fans that the romantic screen image is still part of the package.

What we know so far

  • Opening day: December 24, 2026, worldwide theatrical release.
  • The hook: First feature-film collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and his daughter Suhana Khan.
  • Key names: Deepika Padukone and Abhishek Bachchan are among the consistently reported principal cast, with reports also listing Rani Mukerji, Jaideep Ahlawat, Raghav Juyal and Abhay Verma.
  • Behind the camera: Story by Sujoy Ghosh; screenplay by Siddharth Anand, Ghosh, Suresh Nair and Sagar Pandya, per Cinema Express.

Suhana Khan made her acting debut in Netflix’s The Archies in 2023, so King would be her major theatrical entry. The film also reunites Shah Rukh Khan with Deepika Padukone after Pathaan and Jawan, and with director Siddharth Anand after Pathaan. Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures are backing the project.

Why the release date matters

The December 24 confirmation directly answers speculation that the film could move. It also places King in a crowded holiday frame: Avengers: Doomsday and Dune: Part Three are scheduled for December 18, six days earlier. That could squeeze premium screens, though the real impact will only show in advance bookings and final screen splits.

For the promotional campaign, the rose-and-gun contrast gives the team a clean visual identity. But the makers have not yet shown a full trailer or confirmed how the characters are connected, including whether Suhana Khan plays Khan’s on-screen daughter. Until those details arrive, the poster is best read as mood-setting rather than plot detail.

What comes next

Khan has told fans that more promotional material will arrive before opening day, but no trailer date has been announced. With the cast still not fully listed on Red Chillies’ public film page, the next big reveal will likely be the trailer and character introductions.

For now, King is doing what a big Christmas release should: using a memorable image and a familiar line from the star’s past to keep the conversation going without giving the story away.
