Netflix India’s week is a four-title spread across two days. Baththa arrives on October 29, followed by Akka, Meethe Mein Kya Hai and Sigma on October 30. For Hindi cinema fans, the mix is unusually wide: a Tamil gangster comedy, a women-led gangster series, a Diwali family drama and a heist comedy.
The films and series carry multiple language options on the platform, so viewers can pick Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam or Hindi in several cases. The release dates and language lists are as shared by Netflix India and OTT release trackers, and may still change.
Baththa: Vijay Sethupathi’s 1986 Madras gangster comedy
Baththa streams from Thursday, October 29, after its October 1 theatrical run. Written and directed by Balaji Tharaneetharan and presented by Atlee, the film stars Vijay Sethupathi as Baththavachalam, a feared local gangster in 1986 Madras. When an eight-year-old boy accidentally traps him in a school restroom, the forced pause makes him revisit his past, and the connection that develops pushes him to reconsider his violent life.
Supporting players include Master Sai Prithviraj, Lijomol Jose, Baby Sahasra Shree, Santhy Balachandran, Ajay Ghosh and Arjun Chidambaram, with Ramya Pandian in a cameo. It streams in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
Akka: Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte lead YRF’s gangster series
Akka premieres on Friday, October 30. Written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty and produced by YRF Entertainment, the series is set in 1980s Pernuru, a fictional South Indian city where women hold power. Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte play Bhavani and Rudra, two powerful women with opposing ambitions and beliefs, and their collision threatens the old order.
The cast also includes Tanvi Azmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Anshuman Pushkar, Monica Panwar, Poornima Indrajith and Vishak Nair. Netflix lists the series in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu; an episode count has not been announced.
Meethe Mein Kya Hai: a Diwali family reunion, direct to Netflix
Meethe Mein Kya Hai is a Hindi film premiering directly on Netflix on October 30. It marks the directorial debut of Radhika Bansal. The story gathers a multigenerational family at Nani’s house for Diwali, where old grievances surface while a mother hunts for a suitable match for her unmarried son. It is billed as a family comedy-drama.
The cast includes Rohini Hattangadi, Ayesha Raza, Abhay Kaul, Tarana Raja, Vikram Bakshi, Dalai, Ayuushman Ghai, Kiara Chouhan, Ritwik Bhowmik, Gaurav Sharma and Kanikka Kapur.
Sigma: Sundeep Kishan’s heist comedy
Sigma streams from October 30 after its October 2 theatrical release. Directed by Jason Sanjay in his directorial debut, it stars Sundeep Kishan as Guru and Faria Abdullah as RJ Sam. Sanjay is the son of actor-turned-politician Vijay. Guru is pulled into underground gambling, discovers a pen drive connected to a drug and money-laundering network, and instead of running, he puts together a crew of struggling outsiders to heist the network’s assets.
The Tamil film is available in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi.
