Sai Pallavi: I Did Not Want to Use My Mind Too Much as Sita

Sai Pallavi shares her faith-led approach to playing Sita in Ramayana on the KBC Diwali Special, airing October 29-30 on Sony TV.

Sai Pallavi: I did not want to use my mind too much as Sita

Sai Pallavi is approaching Ramayana with a different kind of preparation — one that begins with stillness rather than technique. In the Kaun Banega Crorepati Diwali Special, she explained why playing Sita made her rethink how she usually works.

A familiar question, asked in reverse

Pallavi appeared with Ramayana co-stars Ranbir Kapoor and Ravi Dubey, in conversation with host Amitabh Bachchan. When Bachchan asked what went through their minds when the filmmakers offered them their parts, Pallavi said she normally begins with a simple question: what can I do for this character?

With Sita, the question turned around. “I did not want to use my mind too much,” she said. Instead of planning what she would bring to the role, she found herself wondering what the role would give her — what knowledge or understanding she might take away.

Faith over overthinking

Pallavi added that she wanted to remain open and transparent rather than layering the character with her own ideas. She described praying and asking to become an instrument for the part.

I simply prayed and said, ‘Mother, please let me play that role through me,’ and left it at that.

Bachchan praised the answer as a very good point. The exchange is small, but it reveals the inner posture Pallavi is adopting for one of the most revered figures in Indian mythology.

Why the remark matters

Ramayana is among the most anticipated titles in Hindi cinema, and every remark about its casting or performances is watched closely. Sita is not just a beloved character; she carries enormous emotional and cultural weight for audiences.

Pallavi’s response suggests she plans to treat that weight with reverence rather than ego. In an industry where actors often describe transformation and preparation as a display of craft, her comments point to a quieter, faith-led process. That is a meaningful distinction for a mythological adaptation, and it gives fans an early sense of the performance’s tone.
