Udta Teer opens at ₹19.45 cr, misses ₹25 cr

Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan's Udta Teer opens at ₹19.45 cr nett over its first weekend, short of the ₹25 cr mark despite strong reviews.

Udta Teer: ₹19.45 cr weekend, under ₹25 cr

Udta Teer, Ayushmann Khurrana’s first release of 2026, opened with ₹19.45 crore nett in India over its first weekend, according to a Sacnilk report. Gross collections stood at ₹23.08 crore, leaving the spy comedy just below the widely watched ₹25 crore mark after three days.

A weekend that recovered after Friday

Sunday brought the film’s best single-day figure so far. Udta Teer grew by over 11% on day three to collect ₹8.1 crore, signalling that positive word of mouth was pulling some audiences back into theatres after a slow start.

The film pairs Ayushmann with Sara Ali Khan for the second time after Pati Patni Aur Woh Do. Directed by debutant Aakash Kaushik, it follows a Pakistani spy who loses his memory during a mission in India and starts believing he is a patriotic Indian officer.

  • Opening weekend: ₹19.45 crore nett
  • Sunday: ₹8.1 crore, up over 11%
  • Gross first three days: ₹23.08 crore

Better than their last film, but under the target

Udta Teer has already outrun the first-weekend total of Pati Patni Aur Woh Do, which took ₹17.5 crore nett. That is a useful comparison for the lead pair, even though the new film’s three-day figure could not reach ₹25 crore.

Reviews have leaned positive. Film critic Sumit Kadel rated the movie four stars and called it “one of the most unique, entertaining and intelligently written and directed films of 2026”, while also describing it as one of Dharma Productions’ better recent releases.

Monday is the real test

With Monday being a working day, trade estimates in the report expect a significant drop to around ₹3-4 crore. That would take the cume close to the ₹25 crore mark. The early trend was quiet: the report noted the film had collected only ₹17 lakh in India at the time, a typical weekday morning slowdown.

For fans, the next few days will show whether the strong reviews and comedy premise can keep Udta Teer steady through the week. If Monday holds around the predicted range and Tuesday does not fall sharply, the film will cross ₹25 crore and head into its first week with momentum.
