Amitabh’s Diwali confession cracks up Ramayana cast before Nov 5

Amitabh Bachchan shared a playful Diwali memory on KBC that left Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Ravi Dubey laughing before the Nov 5 release.

Amitabh's Diwali memory cracks up Ramayana cast before Nov 5

Kaun Banega Crorepati turned into a Diwali reunion of sorts when the core cast of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana took the hot seat. Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Ravi Dubey appeared to promote the two-part epic, and host Amitabh Bachchan ended up sharing his favourite childhood festival memory.

What happened on the KBC hot seat

The new promotional clip shows the three actors making a grand entry with dancers and chants of “Jai Shri Ram”. Once settled, Ranbir asks Amitabh whether he has a specific memory of celebrating Diwali as a child.

The veteran star’s answer is all about one-upmanship. “Diwali ki ek he yaad hai,” he begins, before explaining that if a firecracker goes off at a neighbour’s place, “ours has to be even louder.”

It is a short, playful confession, and the reaction is immediate: Ranbir laughs out loud and claps, while Ravi Dubey and Sai Pallavi also burst into laughter.

Why the moment fits right now

The appearance comes as the film’s promotions are in full swing. The first instalment is scheduled for release on November 5, right in the thick of the festive filmgoing season. A warm, Diwali-specific exchange is useful at this point: it makes a massive mythic adaptation feel approachable and family-friendly, and it puts the lead cast in front of the quiz show’s large television audience.

It also gives the film a human beat. Before audiences see Ranbir as Lord Ram, they see the actor laugh at a simple festival memory — the kind of moment that travels quickly on social media.

Ranbir’s own words on playing Lord Ram

Earlier, the makers shared a behind-the-scenes video in which Ranbir discussed the weight of the role. He said Lord Ram’s biggest strength is not his bow but his kshama — his ability to forgive.

“This is not a role,” he added. “My job was to be worthy of the faith that people place in this story.”

That register — responsibility over excitement — is the opposite of Amitabh’s light Diwali memory, and the contrast is part of why the KBC clip works as a promotional beat.

What to know before release

For fans planning their Diwali and November viewing, the key details are:

  • Release: Part 1 arrives November 5; Part 2 is planned for Diwali 2027.
  • Director and producer: Nitesh Tiwari directs, with Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios producing.
  • Core cast: Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Ravi Dubey as Lakshman, Yash as Ravana and Sunny Deol as Hanuman.

The film also has a wider ensemble, including Anupam Kher, Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, Vivek Oberoi, Kunal Kapoor and Lara Dutta, among others.

For fans of the epic, the KBC episode is a low-stakes, high-fun entry point before the film’s more solemn mythology takes over on the big screen.
