Junglywood, a film that turns Bollywood’s own insider-outsider conversation into a thriller, is moving towards its first look. Reliance Entertainment and Moon Side Films are backing the project, with Shaan R Grover in the lead and the trailer set to arrive around Halloween.
The announcement lands on a debate that Hindi film fans know well: the long-running discussion around who gets access and opportunity in the industry. Junglywood’s response is to treat that tension as genre material rather than another comment-section argument.
A story set behind the screen
Director Chand Mohammad describes Junglywood as a genre-bending mix of dark humour, psychological thrills and twists. The film uses a hypothetical story to show what happens behind the scenes of the movie business, promising a view that is comic, tense and unpredictable at once.
The director also believes a film about the industry should be able to laugh at itself. “It’s necessary to know how to take a joke on oneself and with Junglywood, we aim to do that,” he said.
For the lead, the team wanted someone who embodies the outsider side of the story. Chand Mohammad said Shaan does not come from a film background, and his impact in last year’s Saiyaara made him the right person to front the film.
Who is in the frame
The ensemble mixes familiar and fresh faces:
- Shaan R Grover headlines the film
- Akash R Jagga, Irina Rudakova and Deepak Kalra play pivotal roles
- Dia Singh, Anoushka Chauhan, Niya Bapalawat and Twinkle Arora are among the new names
Before Junglywood arrives, audiences can currently see Shaan in the recently released Tum Mere Ho.
What the film promises
Shaan is direct about what the opportunity means. Headlining a film is a career milestone, and he credits the combination of Chand Mohammad’s vision with the backing of Reliance and Moon Side Films. He says viewers should “buckle up for a mysterious adventure” when the film hits screens.
That framing fits the project: a thriller that wants to be playful about the film industry but serious about keeping its audience guessing.
Why fans should keep an eye on it
Insider-outsider stories often arrive as debates, interviews or social media exchanges. A theatrical thriller built around the same friction is a more active way in: the audience gets to watch the power dynamics through characters and reveals rather than editorials.
That also makes the trailer an important test. It needs to signal the film’s dark humour without giving away the psychological turns the team is promising.
The next update
The trailer will be unveiled around Halloween, giving fans a first real sense of the film’s tone and world. It is the next confirmed milestone, and likely to show whether Junglywood lands closer to comedy, suspense or something in between.
