Netflix has released the first full trailer for Akka, the YRF Entertainment gangster saga that pits Keerthy Suresh against Radhika Apte in a fictional kingdom called Pernuru. The series premieres on October 30, 2026, and the new footage makes one thing clear: power here is a family matter, and the family is not at peace.
What the trailer sets up
The trailer introduces Bhavani (Keerthy Suresh) and Rudra (Radhika Apte), two women whose ambitions pull in opposite directions. Bhavani is the protector of an inherited order; Rudra is the outsider willing to challenge it. Around them, loyalty becomes a weapon and old wounds resurface.
Netflix described the story as a kingdom built on loyalty, a legacy guarded for generations, and a rivalry that threatens to bring it all down. That is a familiar shape for a gangster drama, but the people holding power are not the usual suspects.
Why this one matters
Akka continues Netflix India’s collaboration with YRF Entertainment, after titles such as The Romantics, The Railway Men, Maharaj and Mandala Murders. It also pushes the streamer deeper into large-scale, mythic gangster storytelling with women at the centre of the conflict, not the margins.
Dharmaraj Shetty writes and directs. The cast includes Tanvi Azmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Anshuman Pushkar and Monica Panwar.
“With Akka, audiences will enter the fictional world of Pernuru, where women are not just part of the story, they are the power centre.”
That line from Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix India, is the clearest statement of intent.
Keerthy Suresh described Bhavani as a woman who knows what she stands for and will go to great lengths to protect her legacy, with choices that are never easy. Radhika Apte said Rudra refuses to be defined by circumstances: fierce, ambitious and willing to challenge the established order.
That contrast is what the trailer sells. One woman is holding the line; the other is pulling at it. The result is a conflict about belief and loyalty as much as territory.
What to look for
- Bhavani vs Rudra: Keerthy Suresh plays the legacy defender; Radhika Apte plays the challenger who refuses to be defined by circumstance.
- Pernuru’s power structure: rival houses, tested loyalties and a challenge from outside the established order.
- Streaming date: the series arrives on Netflix on October 30, 2026, so the wait is short.
The timing is tight: the trailer arrived on October 22, just over a week before the premiere. For a streamer, that usually means the marketing team wants the conversation to stay hot straight into launch week.
For Hindi film fans, Akka is another test of whether the streaming-era gangster saga can feel both classical and new. The trailer suggests scale, stars and enough personal rivalry to carry the conflict beyond set pieces.
