Advance booking for Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana, produced by Namit Malhotra, has opened, and Mumbai’s premium screens are already showing how big the demand is. The most expensive recliner seat at PVR Icon 3D IMAX in Lower Parel is priced at Rs 3,170 for afternoon and evening shows on November 5, 6 and 7.
That is not a one-off premium for a single show. The same seats cost Rs 2,770 on Sunday, November 8, and the pricing pattern extends across the city’s luxury formats.
Where the premium prices sit
At INOX Insignia in Worli, the top ticket reaches Rs 2,370 for late-afternoon and night screenings from November 5 to 9. On the first four days, no Insignia seat is available below Rs 970. Regular 3D shows are cheaper, but not exactly budget-friendly once evening arrives: from late afternoon onwards, tickets stay above Rs 400.
- PVR Icon 3D IMAX, Lower Parel: Rs 3,170 for recliners on Nov 5-7; Rs 2,770 on Nov 8.
- INOX Insignia, Worli: up to Rs 2,370; minimum Rs 970 for the first four days.
- IMAX 3D at Churchgate and Ghatkopar: evening and night shows under Rs 1,000.
- Regular 3D: no tickets below Rs 400 from late afternoon onwards.
Why the split pricing matters
This is a city-level pricing story as much as a film story. A fan who books the first premium option they see at Lower Parel pays more than three times what an IMAX 3D seat costs at Churchgate or R City in Ghatkopar for evening and night shows. The same film, same format family, very different bill depending on location and seat type.
For an event film like Ramayana, the premium formats are the first to reveal how far audiences will go for the best presentation. Nitesh Tiwari’s film arrives with Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. That ensemble, plus the scale of the production, makes premium screens the natural place for early demand to concentrate.
What to do before you book
If you want the recliner experience, check the exact showtime and date before paying: the Rs 3,170 rate applies to specific afternoon and evening recliner shows, and Sunday’s recliner price is lower. If the screen matters more than the seat, the Churchgate and Ghatkopar IMAX 3D shows are the clear value option at under Rs 1,000.
For most viewers, regular 3D remains the accessible route, though an evening show will still cost more than a matinee. Booking early, comparing venues in the same city, and being flexible on showtime are the practical ways to avoid paying the highest premium.
